They all had that look because they did neck presses back then instead of the modern bench press, and comics and animation have been mimicking their body types ever since. Just look up photos of some of the famous bodybuilders from the 1940s, 1950s, and early 1960s and you'll see what I mean: Steve Reeves, Clancy Ross, Reg Park, Jim Haislop, Larry Scott, etc. Yeah but squared-off "pointy chests" are every bit as realistic as the man-boob look. ![]() It was a 2d cartoon, these are their renditions that are more tangible in reality. They never had pulsing veins and muscle striations or abs or even seeing individual hair and you never really saw nails or wing skin or holes in their wings or really any texture at all. ![]() They are the characters depicted mostly realistically.
